Black Bears Defeat Bardon Polo Team on Day 5 of Duke of Sutherland Cup

The only game on the fifth day of play in the Duke of Sutherland Cup featured Black Bears’ Paco O’Dwyer leading his team to a fifth chukka victory, scoring all three goals to defeat Bardon Polo Team 7-5 for their first victory.

A slow start from Bardon Polo Team left them trailing throughout most of the game, but a determined comeback that was led by three goals from Poroto Cambiaso tied the score at 4-all entering the final chukka. Held without a field goal for three consecutive chukkas, Black Bears reorganized for the final chukka, and it was O’Dwyer that proved to be a difference maker, scoring three consecutive goals to pull away. The two-goal difference in the game was determined on the penalty line where Black Bears converted three of their five opportunities while Bardon Polo Team managed just one penalty goal in the 7-5 defeat.
