Cortium Sports Narrowly Defeat Altamira K in Duke of Sutherland Cup
The second day of play in the 2021 Duke of Sutherland Cup featured a close match as Cortium Sports withheld the late pressure from Altamira K to capture the 8-7 victory at Cowdray Park Polo Club.
A quick start from Altamira K in the opening chukka was a result of the play of Adriano Agosti, who scored both goals to give his team the early lead. Cortium Sports responded by scoring five of the final six goals in the half, providing a dynamic attack from the duo of Lucas Monteverde Jr. and Jaime Garcia Huidobro. Despite trailing through most of the game, Altamira K continually pressured Cortium Sports to receive 10 penalty attempts yet converted just three with the missed opportunities ultimately deciding the game. Back-to-back penalty conversions for Altamira K tied the score at 7-7, but Manuel Elizalde scored the game winner late in the sixth chukker to capture the 8-7 victory.
