Ojo Caliente Advance to Dollar Cup Final with Overtime Victory

A thrilling semifinal in the 2021 Dollar Cup at Cowdray Park Polo Club between Ojo Caliente and Four Quarters Black required overtime to decide who would join Confido/Madams Farm in the final. With their persistence from the field, Ojo Caliente’s John Paul Clarkin scored the game-winning goal to send his team into the final with the 6-5 victory.

Scoring all six of their goals from the field, Ojo Caliente won the battle in open play, producing more scoring opportunities by outshooting Four Quarters Black 12-7. With his overtime winning goal, Clarkin led all players with three goals in a close game where both teams shot 50% or better from the field. Leading throughout the semifinal, Ojo Caliente held a two-goal advantage entering the fourth chukka, but consecutive goals from Segundo Darritchon sent the game into overtime. Wasting little time, Zac Beim found Clarkin with a pass that was converted to send Ojo Caliente into the finals.
