Strong First Half Leads Black Bears into Duke of Sutherland Cup Final

The second semifinal in the 2021 Duke of Sutherland Cup featured an exceptional first half from Black Bears to never trail in the match and capture the 7-5 victory over Ferne Park.

Leading from start to finish, Black Bears were able to build their lead on the defensive end, limiting Ferne Park to just one goal through the first three chukkas. Regularly gaining possession, Black Bears pressured Ferne Park into committing seven first half fouls that resulted in three penalty conversions for Patrick O’Dwyer. Finishing with four goals and two assists, O’Dwyer helped Black Bears build a 7-2 and despite Ferne Park’s best efforts in the final chukka, they were only able to pull within two goals. Black Bears books their place in the final against Emlor to determine the 2021Duke of Sutherland Cup champion.
